Where do the Devils play, and when?

The London Devils include members from all over the capital. We currently play Monday nights at Lee Valley Ice Centre, and Thursday nights at Alexandra Palace Ice Rink. Our season starts in September and we play through to the end of July. Generally we break two weeks at Christmas and five weeks in August.

Can I come out and skate with the London Devils sometime?

The London Devils are a membership-based club and we only allow fully registered club members to skate with the club. We generally take on new members on a case-by case basis at the beginning of the season in September and occasionally during the season if spots open up. The best thing to do is drop the club an email on teamcaptain@londondevils.com to check if there are any openings for club membership and let us know a bit about your hockey background.

What level of hockey do the Devils play?

The foremost purpose of the club if enjoyment and recreation. We try to maintain a balance between a good solid level of hockey and a good social atmosphere. Most of the Devils have played at a decent level and we try to maintain that with new members.

I'm a beginner, can I join the Devils?

Beginners are encouraged to join one of the other London clubs who have beginner-level programs.

I'm a goalie, do you need goalies?

We have goalies in the club, but it is always good to know as many goalies as possible. Please contact the team through the team email address teamcaptain@londondevils.com.

Are you all Canadian ex-pats?

No, we are a multi-national club. While there are quite a few Canadians, we also have English, American, and a whole host of European nations represented in the club.

What else do you guys do?

In addition to match play and training in and around London, we also travel abroad a few times each season to play in tournaments and friendlies. For example, our last few trips have been to France, Estonia, Latvia, Czech, and Finland. We also host a number of club functions throughout the year including team parties, BBQs, golf days, and pub crawls.

How much does it cost to join the Devils?

Club membership fees vary from season to season.

Disciplinary Policy

The purpose of the London Devils IHC is to create a fun and safe environment in which to enjoy the game of ice hockey. Whilst the Club's training sessions, scrimmages and challenge matches are bound to be competitive, it is up to each member to control his stick, body and emotions while on the ice within the spirit of the rules of the game and the Club's purpose. In the event of fighting or other inappropriate violent play, members will be subject to the discipline penalties and procedures set out below.

Scrimmages

In any in-house league game or scrimmage with another EIHA rec section club, fighting or other violent play which in the opinion of the referee (or in the absence of a referee, the captains of both teams) is an attempt to injure will be punishable by a 5 minute penalty, game misconduct and a suspension from all matches or training sessions for a minimum period of two weeks. The Club Executive reserves the right to impose an additional suspension if circumstances warrant.

Training Sessions

The Club Executive reserves the right to impose suspensions in the event of violent play during open training sessions where instances of fighting or attempt to injure are reported to the Club Executive.

EIHA Registered Matches

Any member participating in an EIHA sanctioned challenge match shall be subject to the discipline rules set out in the EIHA handbook but in the event of fighting or violent play attempting to injure may also be subject to further discipline at the discretion of the Club Executive if circumstances warrant.

Miscellaneous

In determining the length of any suspension, the Club Executive may take into account past conduct of the member in question, including conduct which took place prior to this policy.

If the offending member is himself a member of the Club Executive, he will not be entitled to be involved in assessing the discipline penalty. Another Club member will be selected by the remaining members of the Club Executive to determine the appropriate discipline.

Any member who is subject to a suspension will not be entitled to any reimbursement of club fees for the period missed.

The determination of the Club Executive on discipline matters will be final and there will be no right of appeal.

Beer

When volunteering to bring beer to training, members are expected to abide by the "good beer code". Brands such as (but not limited to) Carling, Carlsberg, Budweiser, Fosters, and Coors Light are deemed unacceptable by the Club Executive. In the event that a club member brings one of these brands to the rink they will be subject to ridicule which may continue for the duration of their club membership. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the person who brings the beer to ensure it is placed on ice. Simply bringing the beer does not represent completion of the Beer Responsibility.
